Opposition Is God’s Opportunity

Opposition and opportunity work hand in hand. They are married to one another. You will not find one without the other. Wherever God opens a tremendous door of opportunity and blessing, there will always be opposition from the enemy to keep you from going through it.

God opened a door for me to pastor a church. I realized that there would be a great deal of opposition because women in ministry are very few and far between. Those of us women who are pastoring churches, generally, are not pastoring in the Baptist denomination.

The enemy used those closest to me to tell me that maybe I should wait, maybe I should think about it, and maybe I should pray a little more about it. But I knew God's voice and I was bold enough to follow His leading. If He had spoken a thing, then He would not embarrass Himself by putting me out there and leaving me without the help, the anointing, and the support I needed to carry out His will for my life.

I knew this was an opportunity for me to do a tremendous work in the city of Philadelphia for the cause of Christ. But, yet, I knew it was satan's job to bring opposition to what God had called me to do.

Instead of allowing fear to overtake me, I used this opportunity to let God demonstrate His power over anything that the enemy tried to do. So I stepped out boldly on God's Word.

God has proven Himself faithful over and over again. As a result of my leadership in this congregation, many doors have been opened to other women, and they have become pastors in churches around the country.

Do Not Back Up

Opposition is not a time for us to back up, allow fear to overtake us, question God, or go back on our knees after we have heard from God. The devil always has a counterfeit for every authentic word that God speaks to our heart.

Opposition and opportunity go hand in hand, but even the opposition of the enemy can work positively in your life. Opposition will make you stand stronger and firmer in the things of God. You can allow opposition to strengthen your prayer life and cause you to search deeply and more consistently in the Word of God. What the enemy meant for evil, God can turn around and mean for good.

Hannah

First Samuel 1 describes the opposition that Hannah received from Peninnah because she was barren. It drove her to agonize in prayer. If Hannah had not sought the Lord with such deep sincerity in the temple, Eli the priest would not have come forward to grant her petition. Peninnah meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.

This is a clear example for us. Many times God will allow a person to come into your life to oppose you. That person can turn out to be the greatest blessing in your life because the adversity will drive you to God.
